Starting a business
Our enterprise unit is an exciting new development for Silai for Skills. Current and past students can receive advice and training on setting up a business, building confidence in sales, in fact anything to help you build on the skills you've learnt whilst here.

We will support you
Each year a selection of students that want to start their own business can set themselves up in our on-site workshop running their business from there for one year whilst drawing on expert advice from the unit.

Creative House
Her background in arts and crafts was a strong basis for Tracey to set up Creative House, her upholstery business. For over a year now Tracey has been making curtains, bedspreads, re-upholstered chairs, in fact anything to do with making your home a nicer place. Offering a full colour-co-ordinated service to clients where they choose the materials and have a say in the style of work they want done, Tracey's business has proved highly successful.

Ka-mi Klothing
Making made-to-measure funky clothes that looked good and fitted well was Kate's driving force. She started out five years ago and now runs Ka-mi Klothing from Silai for Skills supplying independent fashion outlets in and around Bristol. Her unusual PVC, fleece and lycra clothes have a sophisticated futuristic feel to them and are a popular choice for women who want to look stylishly different.
